w/The Jazz Master, Lionel Hampton
During the 1950's I was introduced to Lionel's music through my cousin. Everytime Lionel would have a concert in New York the tickets were sold out! Throughout the years it was impossible to get good seats. I finally caught up with him a few years ago at his birthday celebration on broadway in New York. I could not believe what I saw in terms of performance. This man was awesome! Finally I caught up with him again and as you can see I got the best seat in the house. Lionel, I miss you!

w/Bassist Extrodinaire Leonard Gaskin
Fate brought us together when Percy France hired me as a guest vocalist to work at Brooklyn's Flamingo Club. A fine bassist indeed! At 82 and still going strong. This year Leonard made my family connection to my second cousin Clark Monroe. Clark Monroe's Uptown was a famous jazz nightclub in Harlem during the 1940's and 50's. Clark also ran Kelly Stables Jazz Club and the Famous Door on West 52nd street later on in the 50's. Now I know why I love jazz so much. It's in my blood!
